Overview
Hound K8s is a local-first application for Kubernetes inspection and diagnostics on Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The app analyzes cluster state on your device without requiring a Hound-hosted account or backend service.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not operate a Hound cloud account system.
- We do not collect Kubernetes manifests, resource names, logs, events, kubeconfig files, or cluster credentials.
- We do not collect Secret values. Secret references may be used locally for diagnostics, but secret contents are not uploaded to Hound.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs or tracking domains.
Local App Data
Hound may store local settings on your device, such as imported cluster profiles, user-selected file access bookmarks, purchase or trial state where applicable, display preferences, cached resource results, and connection configuration. This data remains on your device unless you choose to export or share it.
Cluster metadata, Kubernetes events, Pod logs, relationship graphs, and diagnostic results are processed locally on your device. Hound does not upload this information to a Hound-hosted service.
App Store Purchases
The iPhone and iPad edition is free and does not require an in-app purchase. The Mac edition may use Apple In-App Purchase for a trial and lifetime unlock. Purchase processing, receipts, refunds, and Apple ID payment information are handled by Apple under Appleās policies.
Cloud Identity and Kubernetes Connections
When you connect to Kubernetes clusters, Amazon EKS, Google GKE, or Azure AKS, Hound communicates directly from your device with the Kubernetes API servers and identity provider endpoints that you explicitly configure.
Cloud sign-in may involve AWS, Google, or Microsoft processing authentication information under their respective privacy policies. Hound does not proxy these connections through a Hound server.
Reusable cloud credentials and OAuth tokens are stored locally using Apple Keychain. Kubeconfig data, cluster metadata, logs, events, diagnostic results, and relationship analysis are not uploaded to Hound.
Google Cloud Data
If you choose Google sign-in, Hound requests permission to identify your Google account, list the Google Cloud projects and GKE clusters available to that account, and obtain short-lived credentials for the cluster you select. Hound uses this data only to provide the Google GKE connection feature that you initiate.
Google OAuth tokens are stored in Apple Keychain on your device. Hound does not sell, share, or use Google user data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or training. You can remove the saved cluster profile in Hound and revoke Hound access from your Google Account at any time.
Hound's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Support Requests
If you contact us for support, we will use the information you provide only to respond to the support request. Do not send production secrets, kubeconfig credentials, private keys, tokens, or sensitive customer data in support messages.
